The transceiver is an important part of a fiber optics network and is used to convert electrical signals to optical (light) signals and optical signals to electrical signals. It can be plugged into or embedded into another device within a data network that can send and receive a signal.
X2 Modules is a legacy MSA (Multisource Agreement) fiber optic transceiver module which conforms to the 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) standard. FIBRAMERICA X2 Transceivers is a standardized form factor for 10 Gb/s fiber optics transponders. X2 Transceivers transponders are used in datacom optical links, primarily 10G Ethernet. The electrical interface to the host board is also standardized and is called XAUI (4 x 3.125 Gb/s).
