Optical distribution for FTTO networks

The Fibramérica FTTO Powered Optical Splitter provides a distribution point between the fiber network and compatible FTTO terminals. Its six distribution ports comprise one input, one cascade connection and four terminal outputs.

The cascade connection allows the optical path to continue to another compatible distribution stage. This arrangement supports room-level and area-level fiber branches in indoor networks for offices, hotels and institutional buildings.

Integrated power supply

The unit incorporates a power supply for a compatible optical and electrical distribution system. This version is specified for 220 V AC at 50/60 Hz, with an electrical output of 54.5–55.5 V.

Terminal loads, connectors and cable arrangements are selected together. The network design must also include the optical losses of each distribution stage.

How it fits into the Fibramérica FTTO system

Combine the distribution layout with the Fibramérica FTTO Main Gateway and the appropriate secondary gateway format: Desktop Gateway with Wi-Fi 6 and 2.5GbE or Ceiling Gateway with Wi-Fi 6 and Gigabit Ethernet. Compatibility and power arrangements are confirmed for each project.

Project selection

Include the number and location of terminals, installation voltage and proposed cable routes in your quotation request. Fibramérica can use these details to define the required equipment configuration and distribution layout.

  • Four terminal outputs and one cascade connection for compatible FTTO distribution layouts.
  • Six distribution ports in total: one input plus five outgoing paths.
  • Built-in power supply with 220 V AC input at 50/60 Hz.
  • 54.5–55.5 V electrical output for the corresponding powered distribution configuration.
  • 1260–1650 nm optical operating range and a specified 85%/15% split ratio.
  • Overcurrent and overvoltage protection.
  • Indoor PC+ABS housing with IP20 and IK06 ratings.

How are the six distribution ports arranged?

The unit has one input, one cascade connection and four terminal outputs. The designation 1:5 counts the four terminal outputs and the cascade as its five outgoing paths. The electrical supply connection is separate.

What does the cascade connection do?

It continues the optical distribution path to another compatible stage. The network design must account for the insertion loss at each stage and the optical requirements of the connected equipment.

What does “powered” mean for this splitter?

The unit combines optical splitting with a built-in electrical power supply for a compatible FTTO distribution system. Its specification describes optical splitting and electrical power provision; optical amplification or gain is not specified.

What electrical supply does this version require?

The specified input is 220 V AC, 50/60 Hz. A 110 V, 120 V or universal 100–240 V input is not listed. Confirm the electrical supply and the available product configuration for the installation location.

Which gateways and cables can be connected?

Select compatible FTTO terminals, connectors and optical or hybrid fiber-and-power cables as part of the project configuration. The specification does not declare Ethernet switch ports or IEEE 802.3af/at/bt PoE compatibility for this unit.

How many terminals can its power supply support?

There are four terminal output connections. The supplied specification does not state the total power budget or maximum current per output, so the supported terminal loads and cable lengths must be confirmed for the selected installation.

Where can the unit be installed?

The unit is specified for indoor use, with IP20 protection and an operating temperature range of 0 °C to +45 °C. Its final location and installation arrangement are defined by the project.
