Eight analog telephone interfaces for business voice

The Fibramérica 8-Port FXS VoIP Gateway connects up to eight analog telephone or fax endpoints to a compatible IP voice platform. It provides a single access point for groups of phones in offices, branches and other business installations that need eight analog interfaces.

SIP and H.248 support enable integration with a configured IP PBX or operator IMS/NGN platform. The gateway has four Gigabit Ethernet ports and a metal enclosure measuring 222 × 149 × 43.5 mm.

Voice services and local calling

The gateway supports common voice codecs, G.168 echo cancellation and T.30/T.38 fax protocols. Services such as caller ID, forwarding, wake-up calls and abbreviated dialing are configured according to the selected voice platform.

Local switching can allow calls between extensions connected to the same gateway during an external-link interruption, subject to configuration. External calling depends on the network and voice service remaining available.

Network integration and management

Routing and bridging modes, static IP, DHCP and PPPoE access options support deployment in an existing network. Traffic-control policies help manage priorities. Administration options include a local web interface, SNMP, TR-069 and Syslog.

Select the required telephone capacity

For installations requiring fewer analog interfaces, compare the Fibramérica 4-Port FXS VoIP Gateway. Select the port count and location according to the number of analog endpoints and the telephone network design.

Integration with Fibramérica building solutions

This gateway can provide dedicated telephone access alongside Fibramérica FTTO & FTTR Systems or an existing Ethernet network. The project design determines whether a separate gateway is needed, since some access gateways already include FXS ports.

What can I connect to the eight FXS ports?

The eight FXS ports provide analog telephone interfaces for compatible phones or fax equipment. The connected endpoints use the configured IP voice platform. Eight ports describe the physical analog capacity; service accounts, trunks and calling entitlements are defined with the selected platform.

Do I need an IP PBX or a voice service?

Normal external calling requires a compatible IP PBX or operator voice platform and the appropriate service configuration. The gateway supports SIP and H.248 access. PBX software, service subscriptions and platform licenses are specified separately in the quotation.

How does this gateway fit into a fiber network?

The gateway connects to the IP network through Ethernet. The selected access equipment handles optical transport and termination. It can complement an FTTO/FTTR project or work with an existing Ethernet network when dedicated analog telephone ports are needed.

Is a separate gateway required in every FTTO installation?

Equipment selection depends on the project. Some access gateways already include FXS ports. A separate voice gateway is selected when its port capacity, location or role is needed in the telephone network design.

Can I connect an analog fax machine?

The gateway lists T.30 and T.38 fax support. Fax operation must be checked with the fax model, IP network, provider and voice-platform configuration before deployment.

Are call forwarding, wake-up calls and other hotel services included?

The gateway supports calling features such as caller ID, waiting, hold, forwarding and three-way calling according to the configured service. Functions such as wake-up/alarm services, abbreviated dialing or do not disturb require support from the selected IP PBX or IMS platform. Integration and licensing are defined for the project.

What happens if the external connection is interrupted?

Configured local switching can allow calls between extensions connected to the same gateway. Calls outside the gateway depend on the availability of the external network and voice service. This feature does not establish a guarantee of uninterrupted external calling.

What power supply does the gateway require?

The listed power consumption is 20 W. The exact input rating and adapter specification must be confirmed for the supplied configuration in the quotation.

What information is needed for a quotation?

Provide the number and type of analog endpoints, the IP PBX or voice-service platform, network arrangement, installation country and any fax or hotel-service requirements. Fibramérica can then define the gateway configuration, power arrangement and integration scope.
